At the Lee & Stort Jetty

Waterworks River 1940s Take me here now

Site of the Lee & Stort jetty

The land behind the Lee and Stort Boat Company jetty in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park was once an industrial site that included a chemicals and dye factory, a distillery and varnishing works. Industries located here because of the easy transportation along the river and waterways network.

You can zoom into this 1940s aerial image of the site and see how much it has changed. The jetty today is located near the building with the name 'Robbialac' painted on the side in huge letters. Robialac was a popular brand of paint produced by Jenson's, one of the factories along Carpenters Road.
