Supporting and Volunteering

Towpath Rangers

Encouraging considerate towpath use

If you love walking or cycling, you could volunteer as a Towpath Ranger, one of the Canal & River Trust's most public-facing roles.

Rangers spend time going along the towpaths and encouraging walkers, cyclists, joggers and boaters to use the waterways in a safe and considerate manner. They also lead occasional towpath events, and encourage communities to get involved.

You don't need any specialis knowledge to become a Towpath Ranger, just to be the type of person who likes to keep active, talk to people and join in. Events and activities take place at different times of the day, and can be as short as a couple of hours, or a whole day.
